Recurrence Time Analysis of Sumatra Paleo Megathrust Earthquake 1797 Using Some Scenarios of Earthquake PARAMETERS(Case Study: Siberut-Sumatra Megathrustearthquake 1797, mw 8.6 8.8)
Abstract
The magnitude of Siberut island Sumatra paleo-megathrust earthquake on 1797 is estimated about Mw 8.6-8.8. This paleo-megathrust earthquake triggered of tsunami attacked the Western of Sumatra coastal and its vicinity. The exact of earthquake parameter like as location, depth, focal mechanism, seismic moment etc also its impact of fault length in the surface was not known so that difficult to perform advanced analysis. In this paper we compute of earthquake recurrence time estimation which depending on some parameters such as moment magnitude, moment seismic, length and width of fault, static stress drop and strain rate. The earthquake parameter was calculated by using empirical formula for some Mw scenarios. By using strain rate value 1.19 x 10-14/s for Sumatra area and earthquake parameter scenarios, the recurrence time of the paleo-megathrust earthquake about 220 years until 558 years.
