The downscaling of a new microwave vegetation index in southern China
Abstract
In this paper, the southern China region is used as the research area. Based on the AMSRE observation data of the Aqua satellite, the MODIS cloud data of the mesoscale
resolution spectrometer and the NCEP atmospheric state reanalysis data, the EDVI data of 2002-2011 in China is retrieved. but the spatial resolution of EDVI is low and can not meet the needs of regional research, considering this, the downscale research of EDVI is urgent. To improve its spatial resolution, we analyzed the relationship between the high spatial resolution variable NDVI(with a spatial resolution of 5.6km)and the low spatial resolution variable EDVI(with a spatial resolution of 20km) , since NDVI is affected by chlorophyll content, EDVI can detect the vegetation water content (VWC) in canopy , When vegetation is in their growing period ,chlorophyll and vegetation water content will increase with time, there is obviously a close relationship between them. By establishing the relationship of the two datasets, high-resolution products of EDVI datasets were obtained and it will be more suitable for the agriculture and other fields. The accuracy and spatial resolution of the EDVI data are improved to some extent, and we can get more detail information.- Publication:
