Recent additions to Reanalysis holdings at NCAR's Research Data Archive

The Research Data Archive (RDA, http://rda.ucar.edu ) at the National Center For Atmospheric Research (NCAR) provides open access to a variety of global reanalysis dataset collections to support atmospheric and related sciences research worldwide. These include products from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF), Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and NCAR. Recently, the ECMWF ERA-5, https://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds633.0/#!description and NOAA-CIRES-DOE Twentieth Century Reanalysis Version 3, https://rda.ucar.edu/datasets/ds131.3/#!description reanalysis products were restructured into time-series parameter, CF-compliant NetCDF files and added to the archive to complement existing reanalysis dataset collections.

This presentation will provide an overview of the RDA reanalysis holdings and user access capabilities, with a focus on the NOAA-CIRES-DOE Twentieth Century Reanalysis Version 3 dataset collection . Specifically, the following topics will be reviewed: 1) the data structure and NetCDF format, 2) user access capabilities, and 3) data citation tools to support emerging publisher requirements. A discussion of future directions and strategies to adapt to emerging technologies will also be included.
