One way to guide them all: Wayfinding strategies and the examination of gender-specific navigational instructions in a real-driving context
Abstract
A real-world driving study including self-report, driving, glance, and blink data is presented. Gender as individual user characteristic is considered in navigation system design. Both gender groups predominantly reported to use landmark information for orientation. Regardless of gender, landmark-based instructions performed better in terms of visual distraction and mental workload.
