Appropriate fossil calibrations and tree constraints uphold the Mesozoic divergence of solenodons from other extant mammals
Abstract
Sato et al.'s timetree analysis for eulipotyphlan families was improperly executed. Late Paleocene (Thanetian) timetree estimates for Eulipotyphla imply zombie lineages. The split between Solenodontidae and other extant eulipotyphlans is Late Cretaceous.
