GRACE RL06 reprocessing and results from CSR

The GRACE release 06 (RL06) reprocessing is underway at the SDS centers. The GRACE RL06 reprocessing standards will become the starting point for processing and first release of the GRACE-FO data with the idea of harmonizing the two time series. This will ensure the consistency between GRACE and GRACE-FO time series for all scientific studies. This paper catalogues the changes in the upcoming RL06 release including the model upgrades, changes in the processing standards and parameterization etc. This paper discusses the results from the improvements in the RL06 gravity solutions as compared to the current RL05 release. This paper characterizes the errors over the last few years of GRACE and discusses the evolution of the quality of the GRACE solutions with emphasis on the possible challenges associated with connecting the GRACE time-series with that from GRACE-FO.
