The first discovery of Termitidiinae (Insecta, Orthoptera, Prophalangopsidae) from the Lower Cretaceous of China
Abstract
A new insect species, Pseudaboilus ningchengensis sp. nov., is described and attributed to Termitidiinae (Orthoptera: Prophalangopsidae) from the Lower Cretaceous Yixian Formation of Yangshuwanzi in Inner Mongolia, China. This finding indicates that it is the first time for Termitidiinae to be discovered in China, even in Asia, and further provides new evidence to confirm the biotic interchange between the eastern and western margins of the Eurasian landmass during the Early Cretaceous.
