The effectiveness of risk communications as a disaster risk reduction strategy in Taragong Garut
Abstract
This study aims to gain an overview of how disaster-affected communities could communicate risk effectively. Using qualitative and descriptive methods finds that the effectiveness in the formation of community communication systems occurs with the establishment of self-reliance from the community and the running of local institutional roles that support disaster mitigation. Thus, risk communication activities can reduce the risk of disaster victims. It is also found that for risk communication to be more effective, there should be a synergy of various communication methods, be it traditional, modern, or digital communication.
