investigating the temporal decorrelation of the incompressible MHD turbulence
Abstract
In this presentation we investigate the Eulerian space time correlation of the Elssaser variables using numerical simulations of homogenous incompressible magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) turbulence. We study the space-dependence of the decorrelation time of the turbulent structures in the inertial range. We found that the Fourier-transformed space-time correlation is better described by a Gaussian model that may be associated with the non-local sweeping effect for the turbulence decorrelation. Here we discuss scaling laws of decorrelation frequency from simulations and theory. Finally we discuss the implication of our study on the validity of Taylor hypothesis when using solar wind data near 1 AU.
