The Fourth National Climate Assessment: Air Quality Impacts
Abstract
Climate change has the potential to affect air quality in numerous ways, with important implications for human health. Volume II of the Fourth National Climate Assessment (NCA4), scheduled for release in late 2018, fulfills a Congressional mandate to assess the risks and impacts of climate change in the United States. This poster will focus on the development process and key messages of the Air Quality chapter. Air Quality is new as a standalone chapter in NCA4, but the chapter builds on previous USGCRP assessment efforts while integrating consideration of potential benefits of mitigation. The chapter was written by a team of government scientists with expertise in global and regional air quality, and underwent multiple rounds of public and governmental review.
