Estimation of the field source for potential data using continuous wavelet transform
Abstract
Wavelet analysis has been used with much success in the analysis in geophysical data. It been used much less frequently in the interpretation of magnetic or gravity data. Here we utilize it to estimate the potential field source of gravity and magnetic data. The basic principle of continuous wavelet transform estimation of potential field source is introduced. Different wavelet functions are used to estimate the depth source of the synthetic gravity anomaly data, and the performance and characteristics of different wavelet functions are analyzed. The analysis ability of wavelet function on different width abnormal body is studied and the results show that the "bifurcation" phenomenon (two false anomalies) occurs in the linear relationship between scale factor and position factor when the abnormal body reaches a certain width. The processing effect of wavelet function is tested by the analysis of complex gravity data synthesized by multiple anomaly buried bodies.
