NASA ESDIS employs the latest generation Web Analytics tool
Abstract
Under the auspices of NASA's Earth Observing System Data and Information System (EOSDIS), The Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) Project distributes science data to a wide community of users through its Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs). Much of this data is made available via interactive websites - which involve links, downloads, on page interaction, and referrals to additional online pages. To meet the earth science data and information needs of many data users representing numerous different science domains, over 80 specialized websites are supported by multiple distributed organizations under the ESDIS umbrella.
Thus, it is important to analyze and understand the multiple routes by which users reach their desired data and the ease with which that journey was undertaken. State of the art digital analytics supports an insightful web performance analysis through cross channel visitor analysis, comprehensive visit referral analysis (measuring social media, mobile traffic) and easy integration with a new suite of optional, stand-alone tools. Furthermore, the vast array of Key Metrics Reports and exporting options provide the opportunity to analyze and ultimately improve website experiences like never before. This presentation demonstrates how better analysis of visitor journeys provide opportunities to build more effective web site experiences.- Publication:
