New action of deep exploration in China: SinoProbe-II
Abstract
To explore the deep space, the deep earth and the deep ocean, is a magnificent undertaking and dream of the human beings to challenge the natural limits, as an important indicator for overall national strength and technology standards. Currently, China has already fully employed the national strategy of "three deep" with breakthroughs had already been made achievements in outer space and deep sea. Recently, "To probe into the Deep Earth" has been listed as a priority in the national strategy. The proposal of Sinoprobe-II to 2030 has prepared for approval procedure.
The SinoProbe-II, Deep Earth Exploration in China, is one of the major projects of scientific and technological innovation gearing to the needs of developing China by the year 2030. The main targets of the project is, to get detailed structure and composition and monitor in-situ change of the continental lithosphere beneath Chinese continent, to increase deep exploration and mining of the deep resources, including mineral resources, oil and gas, and EGS, and to expand the utilization of deep earth space for green economy. The SinoProbe-II may be focused on some fields facing to topics as following: deep earth sciences and dynamics, key and core technologies and equipment for deep earth exploration, and exploration and evaluation of deep mineral, super-deep oil and gas, and deep geothermal resources (such as hot dry rock). Some major demonstration projects, such as an ultra-deep scientific drilling hole, and a 4-dimensional observation system of deep borehole group, will be carried out during the period of execution. It will provide a great opportunity to enhance the Earth cognition, explore the natural mysteries of the Deep Earth, monitor crustal activities and deep processes of the Chinese continent, and solve the major problems on resources and environment in China. The SinoProbe-II will also initiate the Global Probe project, contribute the joint earth science research through multilateral cooperation in the world.- Publication:
