Ozone Sonde Measurements from Flax Pond, Long IslandDuring the 2018 LISTOS Field Intensive
Abstract
The Long Island Sound Tropospheric Ozone Study (LISTOS) is a multi-organization collaborative study focusing on the Long Island Sound and surrounding coastlines that continue to suffer from poor air quality exacerbated by land/water circulations. Balloon borne electrochemical sondes for measurement of vertical profiles of ozone were launched from the Flax Pond Marine Laboratory in Old Field, NY on the north shore of Long Island. Numerous launches took place over the summer LISTOS intensive period, and have provided useful data for the investigation of ozone production and transport in the Long Island Sound region.
Specifically, the data will be combined with meteorological data from the New York State Mesonet surface and profiler stations as well as air chemistry observations to understand the influences of local boundary layer and regional meteorological processes.- Publication:
