SOFIA FORCAST Observations of 12 High-Mass Protoclusters in the Milky Way
Abstract
Extended Green Objects (EGOs, so named due to their extended 4.5 micron emission) are thought to harbor massive young stellar objects in an evolutionary phase in which mass accretion is actively driving outflows. We have been conducting a multi-wavelength examination of a sample of 12 EGOs in the Milky Way with distances of 1 to 4 kpc. Here, we present new mid-infrared flux densities (including SOFIA FORCAST data at 19um and 37um) and SEDs that will be used to refine the luminosity and evolutionary stages of the most massive members of these protoclusters. Additionally, we compare these results with centimeter-wavelength NH_3 thermal and maser emission from the VLA in order to constrain the properties of the hot cores and surrounding cool gas.
