Mars Environmental Analyzer, an environmental station for Mars 2020
Abstract
The M2020 rover includes a suite of sensors to characterize the atmospheric dust aerosol cycle and the local environment near the surface. We describe the fundamentals and anticipated performances of the sensors being built. Performance levels are being calibrated and we are starting to understand MEDA's final hardware capabilities and performances in measuring bulk atmospheric particle size distribution, concentration, wind speeds, UV-Visible-NIR and thermal infrared radiation at the surface, relative humidity, air temperature, and surface pressure.
