Making The Best Of Great Things: Gpi & Alma Imaging Of The Nearest Known Protoplanetary Disks
Abstract
I present results from Gemini Planet Imager and ALMA imaging of the protoplanetary disks orbiting TW Hya (D = 54 pc) and V4046 Sgr (D = 73 pc). Thanks to their proximity, imaging of these disks with GPI and ALMA achieves exceptionally high linear spatial resolution (down to 1-2 AU, in the case of GPI). In both cases, GPI and ALMA imaging reveals intriguing ring/gap structures.
