Phylogeographic and population genetic analyses reveal multiple species of Boa and independent origins of insular dwarfism
Abstract
Three species-level lineages within Boa were identified, localized roughly to South, Central, and North America. Estimated lineage divergence dates were older than previous estimates and signals of admixture exist between major lineages. We found evidence for multiple evolutionary origins of island populations of Boa with dwarf phenotypes.
