Cobalt-Rich Phases in 11Cr-3W-3CoVNbTaNd Ferritic/Martensitic Steel
Abstract
Three kinds of Co-rich phases, which are not known to have been reported previously in steels, were identified in an 11Cr ferritic/martensitic steel. Cr-Fe-Co-rich M23C6 and Fe-Co-rich M6C carbides have a f.c.c. lattice and a formula of Cr9Fe7Co7C6 and Fe3.4Co2.3Cr0.3C, respectively. Co-rich M3C carbide with an orthorhombic-simple lattice has a formula of (Co1.8Cr0.5Fe0.5Nb0.2)C. Co-containing Nd-rich nitride and Fe-rich carbide phases were also found in the steel.
