Global simulations of sub- and super-Eddington black hole accretion disks in general relativity
Abstract
In this talk I will review the recent progress in simulating optically thick black hole accretion flows. I will briefly describe the computational methods and present simulations of both sub- and super-Eddington accretion disks. The properties of such flows will be described in detail and compared with observed characteristics of ULXs and X-ray binaries. I will also address the question of thermal stability of radiatively efficient accretion disks.
