Biostimulant activity of chitosan in horticulture
Abstract
Chitosan, an N-acetyl- and d-glucosamine co-polymer, is a plant stimulator. Chitosan induces defense genes and the reactive oxygen species scavenging system. Seed priming with chitosan makes seedlings more resistant to abiotic stress. Hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide are signal molecules for chitosan responses.
