Comparative molecular species delimitation in the charismatic Nawab butterflies (Nymphalidae, Charaxinae, Polyura)
Abstract
bGMYC, BPP and PTP were used to investigate species boundaries based on a multimarker phylogeny of the genus Polyura. Molecular species delimitation methods are mostly congruent. Methods based on multi-locus datasets outperform the ones based on single-locus datasets. Molecular species delimitation methods unveil two main cryptic complexes. Two species are described, one is synonymized and five populations are raised to species.
