Filling in the gaps of the papilionoid legume phylogeny: The enigmatic Amazonian genus Petaladenium is a new branch of the early-diverging Amburaneae clade
Abstract
A densely sampled matK tree places phylogenetically enigmatic papilionoid legumes. Chemistry analysis adds support to Petaladenium outside the Genistoid clade. Petaladenium is sister to Dussia within the early-branching Amburaneae clade. A monophyletic Monopteryx sister to the remaining Dipterygeae is strongly resolved. A monospecific circumscription of Leucomphalos within the Baphioids is resolved.
