Spatial-Temporal Data Mining Tools and Techniques for Improving Earth Science Metadata
Abstract
Accurate spatial-temporal metadata is essential for enabling discovery and ordering services for Earth Science datasets. The Atmospheric Science Data Center's (ASDC) staff works closely with satellite and aircraft Earth Science mission teams to create and maintain metadata tailored to the data discovery needs of the Earth Science community. This presentation will describe several spatial data analysis algorithms used to generate high resolution vector spatial coverage geometries used in the validation and reprocessing of spatial metadata from archived datasets recently implemented by the ASDC software development team.
