Deep global evolutionary radiation in birds: Diversification and trait evolution in the cosmopolitan bird family Rallidae
Abstract
Molecular phylogeny reconciles taxonomic conflict caused by morphological convergence. Space and time are consistent with young insular radiations. Morphological and behavioural traits are associated with rail diversification. Supertramp species represent most of the speciose and widespread genera.
