Theoretical demonstration of GaAs/AlAs optically confined double photonic structure for THz generation
We theoretically propose GaAs/AlAs composite double photonic structures for widely tunable THz generation with efficient power, on the basis of difference frequency generation. The wide tunability is achieved by using form birefringence of the one-dimensional photonic structure, where we demonstrate tunability with 0.5-1.4, 1.5-2.4, or 5.4-6.5 THz. The estimated THz powers can reach the order of µW in the entire frequency region. The proposed scheme will be a powerful candidate for realizing a THz source for high-resolution spectroscopic systems.
