A specific glycerol kinase induces rapid cold hardening of the diamondback moth, Plutella xylostella
Abstract
During rapid cold-hardening (RCH), Plutella xylostella accumulates glycerol in hemolymph. The addition of exogenous glycerol is also effective to induce RCH. Four glycerol kinase genes are annotated in a whole genome of P. xylostella. Individual RNA interference showed that only PxGK1 is responsible for RCH. Furthermore, the transcription of PxGK1 is inducible under RCH condition.
