Simulated Indian monsoon precipitation variability from a cloud resolving global climate model forced with assimilated aerosol loadings.
Abstract
Indian monsoon precipitation is of critical importance for a very large portion of the world's population. There are proposed mechanisms that may explain overall and regional changes to observed and projected Indian monsoon precipitation trends. However, a great source of uncertainty remains in explaining how the interaction of anthropogenic aerosols with local precipitation processes and large scale atmospheric moisture convergence have affected or might affect these trends. Using a cloud resolving global climate model with a simple interactive ocean and forced with assimilated aerosol concentrations we analyze the character of simulated precipitation variability and discussed how it compares with observationally derived data.
