ATCA monitoring of gamma-ray loud AGN
Abstract
The Fermi gamma-ray satellite is completing a full-sky survey every three hours and providing unprecedented views of the gamma-ray universe. This project will observe a selection of 150 active galaxies detected by Fermi which, together with optical, X-ray and VLBI data (from the TANAMI project), will enable correlations in the multi-wavelength variability of these objects to be identified and a better understanding gained of the physical processes powering these AGN. Besides monitoring known sources, C1730 observations are also contributing to identifying new gamma-ray sources, both those flaring for the first time, and catalogued sources without a previously identified counterpart.
