Binary Nature for the Asteroid 1052 Belgica
Abstract
Photometric observations of main-belt asteroid 1052 Belgica show its binary nature with an orbital period Porb = 47.26 ± 0.02 h. The rotational light curve of the primary has a period P1 = 2.7097 ± 0.0001 h with an amplitude of 0.08 mag. The lower limit on the secondary-to-primary mean diameter ratio is 0.36 ± 0.02. The measured absolute visual magnitude is H = 12.17 ± 0.05 mag and the slope parameter G = 0.24 ± 0.03. The diameter is estimated to be D = 11 ? 2 km.
