Discovery of a young Ia supernova in NGC 890
Abstract
The intermediate Palomar Transient Factory (ATel #4807) reports discovery of a young Ia, iPTF13ebh, in the nearby galaxy NGC 890 (distance 35-52.3 Mpc; Theureau et al. 2007, A&A, 465, 71). The supernova was discovered at R.A.=02:21:59.98, Dec.=+33:16:13.7 (J2000) with r=18.9+/-0.1 mag on Nov 13.145 UT. It also appeared at r=21.0+/-0.2 mag in the co-added image from the night before (Nov 12 UT).
