Coherence of Discrete Wavelet Packet Bases of Stratospheric Temperatures and Ionospheric Electron Densities
Abstract
Contrast-optimized discrete wavelet packet bases have the ability to outline even short-lived coherent structures in signals, at the same time maximizing the contrast within the discrete time-frequency representations. The present work focuses on the depiction of time-frequency correlations between stratospheric temperatures and ionospheric electron contents. We use data from the European Center for Medium Range Weather Forecast to examine variations of stratospheric temperatures and maps of ionospheric total electron content to describe ionospheric variations
