Nanotechnology in Mg-based materials for hydrogen storage
Abstract
Mg-based materials are very promising for hydrogen storage applications. However, both the kinetic and thermodynamic problems are remaining for these applications especially for on-board storage. Here we will review the methods used by the authors to synthesize Mg-based hydrogen storage materials with nanostructure as well as some novel techniques from other researchers, and focus on how these nanotechnology processing methods could change kinetics and thermodynamics in Mg-based materials for hydrogen storage. These methods include ball milling (mechanical grinding, mechanical alloying, reactive ball milling), thin film synthesis, hydrogen plasma metal reaction, catalyzed solution synthesis etc.
