Geometrical Insights from WSA-ENLIL based SEP event modeling
Abstract
With the increasing solar cycle 24 activity, availability of widespread SEP measurements from STEREO and ACE, and the detection of events at planetary mission outposts, interest in making global connections between events seen at multiple heliospheric locations has grown. We show how the WSA-ENLIL based CISM SEP event model can provide information that is potentially important to their interpretation, including the roles of multiple merging shocks in producing what are perceived as single events, of shock evolution due to ambient solar wind structure interaction, and of the sometimes complicated paths that SEPs may be taking as events proceed.
