Saturn's Magnetospheric Influences on Titan's Ionosphere
Abstract
This paper will present the latest results of high resolution 3-D hybrid particle code simulations of Titan. The research is focused on understanding the interaction of Titan's ionosphere with Saturn's magnetosphere. The modifications of Titan's current patterns by the presence of massive negative ions will be addressed. The energy deposited into Titan's atmosphere from precipitating magnetospheric and pickup ions is calculated. The simulation results will be compared to data to provide insight into Titan's plasma interaction.
