OMPS SDR Status and Performance Evaluation
Abstract
Launched on October 28, 2011, OMPS has successfully passed different operational phases from the Early Observation and Activation (LEO&A) to Early Orbit Checkout (EOC), and is currently in the Intensive CAL/Val (ICV) phase. OMPS data gathered during the on-orbit calibration and validation activities allow us to evaluate the instrument on-orbit performance and validate Sensor Data Records (SDRs). Detector performance shows that offset, gain, and dark current rate trends remain within 0.2% of the pre-launch values with significant margin below sensor requirements. Detector gain and offset performance trends are generally stable and observed solar irradiance is within an average of 2% of predicted values. This presentation will update the status of the OMPS SDRs with newly established calibration measurements. Examples of analysis of dark calibration, linearity performance, solar irradiance validation, sensor noise and wavelength change are provided.
