Development of a compact X-ray source based on Compton scattering using a 1.3 GHz superconducting RF accelerating linac and a new laser storage cavity
Abstract
This paper explains the main technologies related to the development of a compact high-brightness X-ray source based on Compton scattering and describes the prospects for its performance. The technologies are supported by long-term experience with an S-band photocathode RF gun, a laser storage cavity, and X-ray generation. Recently, we developed a new laser storage scheme to increase laser power and to reduce the laser waist size at the collision point.
