Numerical Simulation and Research on Aero-engine Performance with Wet Compression
Abstract
In order to research deeply into how wet compression affects aero-engine performance and to improve the precision of numerical simulation on engine performance, this article considers the situation that liquid exists in the engine, which imposes an impart on the air flow and heat exchanging conditions, and establishes the wet compression model that can reflect the actual compression process in compressor. Based on this model, changes in physical parameters such as mass flow rate, humidity and temperature are investigated when water is evaporating. Furthermore, the research was conducted on the influence of wet compression on the key parameters, i.e. thrust and fuel consumption. The results are consistent well with that of theoretical analysis. Therefore, it is proved that the model can properly demonstrate how wet compression affects the aero-engine performance.
