Simulation-Based Optimization of the Design and Settings of Ultrasonic Phased-Array Transducers with AN Evolutionary Algorithm
Abstract
The design of an ultrasonic array and its settings for a specific inspection involves multiple parameters and is the result of a compromise between different requirements and limitations. Parametric studies based on simulation tools are often performed to ensure that the transducer has suitable performances in terms of detection of the defects sought. An automatic optimization tool, based on an evolutionary algorithm driving CIVA's simulation data, is proposed and tested in realistic applications to design inspection parameters (designing, positioning and/or setting the transducer).
