Catalog of Parkfield foreshocks and aftershocks improved via waveform correlation detectors
Abstract
Single- and multi-channel data streams of the High Resolution Seismic Network (HRSN) of borehole geophones at Parkfield are used to create waveform correlation detectors for foreshocks and aftershocks of the 2004 M6 Parkfield earthquake. All events in the Northern California Seismic Network catalog for the time period studied are detected via the waveform correlation detector algorithm and hundreds more are discovered. Foreshock model predictions of rate and volume changes prior to the mainshock are tested with a more complete catalog.
