Modeling water temperature of Lake Taihu
Abstract
Water temperature is a critical factor for aquatic ecosystems. In this paper, surface water temperature, deep water temperature and mean annual epilimnetic temperature were calculated and compared with empirical data in Lake Taihu by using the dynamic water temperature model. The simulated values were consistent with empirical data. Results show that this model can be used for the temperature simulation in Lake Taihu. Furthermore, it provides a straightforward method to calculate the lake water temperature rather than the complicated models or other techniques. It could be incorporated into ecological models as a sub-model for further research, regarding its relative independence.
