A verification Study of the Canadian East Coast (Sea Ice) Ocean Model
Abstract
The Canadian Ice Service (CIS) has been providing sea ice and iceberg information in Canada's navigable waters through the development of ice analysis and forecast system. The coupled sea ice - ocean Canadian East Coast Ocean Model (CECOM) has been operationally used for short term forecast ice conditions. In this poster we compare model forecasts with ice drift derived from sequential Synthetic Aperture Radar imagery and model forecasts of ice concentration with manually produced ice analysis charts.
