INTEGRAL Legacy: a New View of the Soft Gamma-Ray Sky
Abstract
After more than 7 years in orbit, ESA's INTEGRAL Space Observatory has produced a re-markable portfolio of results, ranging from the inventory of the high energy sources, to the discovery of hundreds of variable soft gamma-ray sources to the mapping of the Al and annihi-lation line in the Galaxy. In the recent years INTEGRAL observing strategy has supplemented the deep observations of the Galactic Plane with the deep observation of the extragalactic sky. The newly published IBIS based Survey Catalogue 4 (A. J. Bird, A. Bazzano, L. Bassani, et al., APJS, 186,1, 2010) contains more than 700 sources detected from 20 keV up to several hundreds of keV. We will present a view of the INTEGRAL high energy sky with particular regard to sources emitting at high energy, cosmic rays and gamma rays of Galactic origin, and their relation with the AGILE, FERMI and ground based high energy telescopes.
