Supernova 2010jm
Abstract
P. Challis and H. Marion, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, report that spectroscopic observations (range 360-760 nm), obtained on Nov. 6 UT by M. Calkins with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), show that 2010jm (cf. CBET 2537) is a type-Ia supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that the best spectral match for 2010jm is to the type-Ia supernova 1999aa at 1 day before peak brightness.
