Supernova 2010jj in NGC 812
Abstract
J. M. Silverman and A. V. Filippenko, University of California, Berkeley; and R. J. Foley, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range 330-760 nm), obtained on Nov. 5 UT with the 10-m Keck I telescope (+ LRIS), shows that 2010jj (CBET 2530) is a type-IIn supernova. The object exhibits a relatively featureless, very blue continuum with intermediate-width (FWHM about 1800 km/s) Balmer emission lines superposed. He I 587.6-nm emission is also visible.
