Coulomb Excitation of ^124,126,128Sn(Z=50) on ^12C, ^27Al, and ^50Ti: Approaching the N=82 Shell Closure via N=74,76,78
Abstract
The determination of <01||E2||21> matrix elements from the Coulomb excitation of ^124,126,128Sn(Z=50) on a ^12C target is presented. Furthermore, preliminary results are presented for the Coulomb excitation of ^124,126,128Sn on ^27Al and ^50Ti targets, which, combined with the results from the ^12C target, can provide an upper/lower limit for the 21^+ static quadrupole moments, Q(21) = 0.758 x <21||E2||21> (expected to be 0). Indeed, accurate knowledge of 21^+ systematics, i.e., E(21), <01||E2||21>, and <21||E2||21>, are essential for testing consistency in models (e.g., deformation) at and near the neutron-rich N=82 shell closure.
