Mechanical Properties of Injection Moulded Binary Blends of Polyethylene with Small Additions of a Liquid Crystalline Polymer
Abstract
Results of the investigation of the mechanical properties of polyethylene blend with small (no more than 3 wt.%) additions of thermotropic liquid crystalline polymer (LCP) are reported. Data on the influence of LCP additions on the stress-strain behaviour in tension, elastic modulus, and long-term (up to a 1000-h) creep are obtained. Elastic properties of the materials are analyzed taking into account the effect of self-reinforcement due to the formation of extended LCP inclusions.
