Statistics of the IMF turbulence spectra observed by Wind under different solar wind conditions
Abstract
We are presenting power spectral density (PSD) analysis of the IMF turbulence based on the Wind MFI data. The MFI data has been reprocessed with an improved calibration for the interval from the end of 1994 till 2010 to produce data with the highest possible time resolution (normally 92 ms and occasionally 46 and 184 ms, obtained as onboard averages of the 22.7 ms measurements). The time resolution of the data allows the investigation of both inertial and dissipation ranges under different solar wind magnetic field and plasma conditions. We are presenting statistics of the spectral indices as well as the relation between the spectral breakpoint and the proton cyclotron frequencies. We are also investigating the anisotropy of PSD in directions parallel and perpendicular to the mean magnetic field.
