Temporal Evolution of the Sea-Serpent Penumbral Filaments
Abstract
The high spectral and spatial resolution provided by Hinode allows us to investigate the temporal evolution of magnetic structures in and around of the sunspot penumbra. Such structures show behavior similar to the penumbral bright points, i.e. they migrate inward from 2/3 of the penumbra and outward from the outer part of the penumbra. This dynamical process can be explained by the so-called thin-flux tube penumbral model that takes into account the magneto-convective overshoot.
