Data-Driven Oceanographic Web Portal
Abstract
The Physical Oceanography Distributed Active Archive Center (PO.DAAC) at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory is the NASA data center responsible for archiving and distributing data relevant to the physical state of the ocean. The PO.DAAC core data management system has undergone a major evolution over the past few years from a collection of ad-hoc systems into a service orientated architecture. From this new architecture, PO.DAAC is able to create new tools and services that provide users the capability to discover datasets and associated information held locally and at remote archives, as well as extract, view and analyze the data. In this talk, we focus on the new PO.DAAC web portal architecture, faceted search technology and methods for integrating various existing data services to construct a Content Rich science data portal.
